After seeing his side pull the plug on a winless run to earn a 2-0 victory over Rivers United last weekend, right back Stanley Okorom has charged his Enyimba teammates to aim at maximum points in today’s Nigeria Professional Football League fixture against Wikki Tourists in Gombe.

This he says will help the team cut down pressure in subsequent home matches.

The People’s Elephant have yet to record a result on the road this term, with their previous away outings ending in thin loses to Kwara United and Rangers.

Okorom is, howevever confident that the seven times champions possess enough quality within their ranks to grab the spoils in Gombe.

“Our last game against Rivers United came with so much pressure because we were on a poor run. It’s easier when you come into a match without that kind of pressure, that’s why I appreciate the fans for their support.

“Now we have to start picking away points. If we are able to win away, we’ll be more confident when we return to play at home.

“Away games are very important in the Nigerian league. When you get your away three points and maybe pocket your home games, you will see yourself being on top.

“But whenever you lose away it will be a lot of pressure on the home match because you will do everything to win. If you win away you come back home with a lot of confidence, so we need to win away.”

Enyimba currently occupy fourth position in group A with seven points gathered from five matches.
