Godwin Koko claimed the overall title at the maiden International Capital Market Association (ICMA) PRO-AM Open Golf Tournament 2024 held in Ilọrin the Kwara State capital.
Koko, who finished with an impressive score of 18 under par, represented the IBB Golf Course at the four-day tournament.
The ICMA which sponsored the event, allocated a total prize pool of N15 million for the top 30 finishers.
As the overall winner, the overall champion received N1.7 million as his star prize.

Although Nigeria’s leading golfer, Sunday Olapade, was billed to participate, organisers told Daily Trust that the prime golfer had travelled out of the country for an international event in Ghana.
Other winners included Mrs Obioma E. who won the Best Net with 186 gross in the female category, Moses O. and Adeleke A. (174 and 163 grosses in the two male categories and Adelodun A with 92 gross in the veteran contest.
Okoko first gained recognition at the 5th National Youth Games in Ilorin and has since made a name for himself in the sport.
Commenting on his journey, the new champion said “Each tournament is a stepping stone, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to grow as a player.
“I came here to give it my best shot, but winning was beyond what I expected,” he said.
