Similarly, a trader, Abubakar Chika, of Anguwan-Doki, Tunga, Minna, was reportedly killed by robbers while returning from the Paiko weekly market on Friday around 10pm at the Minna City Gate opposite the House of Assembly Quarters.

Chika and other traders were said to be attacked when their car broke down.

His brother, Lawali Aliyu, said, “He usually went to rural markets to sell provisions such as detergents and Maggi. It was around 10pm that I received a call that they were attacked by hoodlums at the Minna City Gate on their way back from the market. He succumbed to machete cuts from the attack.

“When we got to the City Gate, we saw him in the pool of his blood. Later the police arrived and his corpse was taken to Tudun-Wada Division and later moved to the Minna General Hospital. It was at the general hospital that we pleaded for the release of his corpse for burial.”

He further said, “We learnt that their fuel got finished when they reached the City Gate. The driver then went to buy fuel when some guys sitting in front of them attacked them with cutlasses. One of the hoodlums stabbed my brother with a sword and he died on the spot.”

When contacted, the state’s police command’s spokesman, SP Wasiu Abiodun, promised to get back and give details of the incidents.
