The Supreme Court Monday fixed May 6 for judgment in the suit over the ownership of 17 oil wells between Rivers and Imo States.
A panel of justices led by Justice Olukayode Ariwoola fixed the date after parties adopted their written addresses on the matter.

Counsel to Rivers State, Joseph Daudi, asked the apex court to rule in favour of his client as historical evidence since 1927 and the 1976 boundary adjustment showed that Egbema and Ndoni belonged to the state.
Counsel to Imo State, Olusola Oke asked the court to dismiss the suit for wrong procedure of not emanating from a high court.
Similarly, counsel to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Remi Peter Olatubora, agreed with Imo State that proper procedure for such a suit was not adopted by Rivers State.
He said witnesses, including officials of the National Boundary Commission, the Surveyor-General of the Federation and indigenes of the disputed areas ought to be heard to enable the court to arrive at a decision.
