The late president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo (Worldwide), George Obiozor, was Friday laid to rest amidst eulogies from prominent Nigerians.
Obiozor was laid to rest at his country home, Awo-Omamma in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State on Friday.
His body had earlier arrived in a motorcade at the Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri about 9am, where a requiem mass was conducted by the Auxiliary Bishop of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese, The Most Reverend Moses Chikwe.
The requiem mass was attended by Governor Hope Uzodimma, his wife and other top government functionaries in the state.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in his tribute, described Obiozor as a true democrat who was committed to not only the development of the South East but Nigeria in general.
He said, “He served creditably well as an ambassador to Israel and the United States of America. The good work he did in both countries was a fitting complement to my administration’s painstaking efforts to remake the international profile of our dear country.”
Others who eulogised Obiozor were former ministers – A.B.C Nwosu, Kema Chikwe, former military governor of the state, General Ike Nwachukwu (retd), Dr Paschal Dozie, and chairman, Seplat Oil ABC Orjiakor.
In his sermon, Chikwe reminded the congregation to live a life worthy of emulation and always “remember that we are all answerable to God.”
In his speech, Uzodimma urged friends and relatives of the deceased to take solace in the fact that he contributed actively to uplift Ohanaeze Ndigbo, saying he accomplished his mission on earth.
