The Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Chidi Collins Oparaojiaku, during an Eucharist Service at St.Peter’s Church Opuoma in Egbema of Ohaji/Egbema LGA last Saturday admonished them to henceforth drop their old lives and put on new ones as people admitted into the Christian fold in the Diocese.
The Bishop advised them to be pure as the white they wore and live pure lives in their homes and wherever they may find themselves in their daily endeavors.
He urged them to be ready at all times to resist temptation from the devil by staying away from fighting, gossips, and committing all sorts of crimes in the society.
According to him, as children of God they should always show themselves to the world, shining as light in all their deeds.
The Prelate used the church service to also perform a foundation laying ceremony of a new multi-million naira vicarage building which is expected to be completed next year.
In his sermon, a student priest of the Diocese at the Theological College Umuahia, Abia State, Rev. Uzoma Uzochukwu described the newly confirmed church members as special people, urging them to allow the spirit of God to lead them always.
He advised them to use their new status to draw their friends unto God by living changed lives that would be emulated, adding that Jesus Christ came into the world to die for the sins of everyone.
Uzochukwu enjoined them to see their confirmation as power from God while warning them that the days of killing, smoking and womanizing are gone.
In his brief speech, the host priest Rev. Joseph Eze thanked the Bishop for the honour done to the church, especially for the foundation laying of their vicarage house, assuring that if given maximum support it would be completed next year.
He appealed to members of the church to remain resolute in the things of God and assist in contributing to the work of God for His blessings which would come abundantly.
