Operatives of the Police Command in Ogun State have arrested a 27-year- old woman, Mariam Ayila, for allegedly kidnapping a 13- years-old girl, Sofiat Yusau.
The suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Agbara divisional headquarters.
The police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the complainant, one Ismail Yusau, told the police that he had sent his daughter on errand to Agbara market only to receive a strange call some hours after from an unknown person, who informed him that his daughter has been kidnapped.
Oyeyemi quoted him to have said the abductor demanded N250,000 as ransom to free the victim.

He said following the report, the DPO Agbara division, CSP Abiodun Salau, mobilized his crack detectives, who embarked on technical and intelligence based investigation.
“Their efforts yielded positive result when the suspect was traced to her hideout at Atan ota area, where she was promptly arrested and the little girl was rescued unhurt.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had earlier kidnapped a young girl at Itele Ota area on the 19th of December 2022, and ransom paid to her before she released her victim,” he said.
Oyeyemi quoted the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, to have directed that the suspect be handed over to the Anti kidnapping unit of the state Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and prosecution.
