Ogun warns against illegal structures along highways

The Ogun State Government has said it will no longer condone erection of illegal structures within the 70-metre right of way along the Abeokuta-Sagamu and Sagamu-Lagos expressways.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Olatunji Odunlami, who gave the warning during an enforcement exercise along the expressway, said, “There is a fencing regulation for the expressway which demands the use of see-through design in accordance to the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit regulations. Even developers who have the proper documentation but do not follow this fencing regulation have committed an offence.”

Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Physical Planning Compliance and Enforcement, Babatunde Olugbewesa, the commissioner decried the impunity with which fences, buildings and factories were being erected on both sides of the expressways without recourse to right of way.
