Ogun varsity expels 81 students over threat to life, misconduct

The Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has expelled and suspended 81 students for various forms of academic and behavioural misconduct.

According to a statement released by the university’s Public Relations Office on Tuesday, the students were penalised for offenses including threats to life, examination malpractices, impersonation, and fraudulent activities.

Among those expelled is Ojo Michael, a 200-level student in the Computer Science Department, who was found guilty of forging his Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) to qualify for the Student Union elections. Additionally, 17 students were expelled for examination malpractice, five for making threats to life, and one for fraudulent activities.

The university also announced the indefinite suspension of 47 students for various infractions, including impersonation, with an additional 10 students receiving other forms of sanctions.

The decisions were made during a Senate meeting held on July 31, 2024.

The management of TASUED has reiterated its commitment to upholding academic integrity and discipline, warning that any student found guilty of misconduct will face severe consequences in line with the institution’s regulations.
