Ogun: Police storm kidnappers’ hideout, arrest 2, rescue victim

Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate, Umar Mohammed and Aliyu Mohammed.

The suspects were arrested from their hideout in the Onigbedu area of Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.

Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest of the suspects to newsmen in Abeokuta, on Wednesday.

He said police acting on a tip off, stormed the hideout of the suspects and rescued one of their victims, Olorunsogo Oluwaseyi.

Oyeyemi added that the suspects were arrested following information that the kidnappers, who abducted the victim in Soyooye area of Abeokuta, were sighted in a forest in Onigbedu.

He added that one single barrel gun with two live cartridges, two expended cartridges, a bag belonging to the victim and some clothes were recovered from the suspects. 

Oyeyemi quoted the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, to have directed that the suspects be transferred to Anti kidnapping unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
