The Ogun State Government has released N500 million for the payment of gratuity to the remaining pensioners from the backlog of the first quarter of 2022, for both state and local government councils.
The permanent secretary, Bureau of State Pensions, Olukunle Sodeinde, disclosed this in his office in Abeokuta.
He said the payment was in fulfillment of the governor’s promise to cater for the senior citizens who served the state diligently.
He appreciated the governor for keeping to his promise that N500m would be released every quarter of the year, urging the pensioners that were yet to get theirs to be patient with the administration.
Speaking, some of the pensioners praised the governor for paying their pensions and support towards them, appealing to him to increase their gratuity as the economy improved.
