OGUN: NUJ gets new president

The South-East Bureau Chief of ThisDay Newspapers, Chris Isiguzo, yesterday emerged  the new president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Isiguzo won the election at the just concluded 6th Delegates Conference of the union held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Returning Officer from the Nigeria Labour Congress, Benson Upah, declared Isiguzo winner, having polled 346 votes against Waheed Odusile who got 329 votes.

Other contestants were Bamidele Atunbi, 101 votes, Abiodun Olalere, 56, Uzaka Abraham, 30, Jacob Edi, 16 and Alademka Adelegan, 9 votes. Announcing the results, Upah commended the peaceful conduct of all the participants.
