Officials of the Ogun State government have seized two lorries loaded with logs of wood, sawing machines, one tractor and a motorcycle used for illegal logging in the various state forest reserves.

The State Commissioner for Forestry, Tunji Akinosi, while speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta, said the impounded items were at the state secretariat, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta.

Akinosi said suspects fled and abandoned the items. He maintained that all the items seized during illegal tree felling would be auctioned, adding that government had intensified monitoring in reserves to stamp out unwholesome activities.
