Ogun LG boss rewards Paralympic gold medalist, empowers women with tricycles

The Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government in Ogun State, Adebayo Ayorinde has rewarded the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Gold medalist, Latifat Tijani, with a cash gift.

Tijani, as indigene of the LG, won Nigeria’s first gold medal 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. She recorded the feat in powerlifting game.

But Ayorinde while marking his administration’s 100 days in office rewarded the Gold medalist, who he described as a model to the younger generation.

The Chairman declared that Tijani had done the LG and Ogun State proud and deserved to be rewarded.

In commemoration of his 100 Days in office, Ayorinde distributed 1000 customized School Bags tagged “Back to School” to Public Primary School pupils across the 16 Wards of the Local government.

He also empowered 6 Women with Tricycles and Cash support of N10,000 each.

100 Youths in the Local government were also given cash grant of N10, 000 each, while 50 others were beneficiaries of the Council Chairman’s free health insurance scheme.

Ayorinde said his administration has given a good account of itself in the execution of its mandate in the last 100 days.

The LG Boss who reeled out some of his administration’s achievements, said his 100 days in office was a clear signal to the good people of Abeokuta North local government that he came with a blueprint to transform the local government.

He noted that the positive feedback from the residents of the local government in the last 100 days indicates that his administration is off to a good start, reiterating that he would continue to make education, health, security and social welfare the hub of his plans for the people of Abeokuta North local government.

“When I was sworn in as the Chairman of this great Local Government, I made a covenant with my Creator that I will provide inspiring leadership and serve my people with honor and dignity. With all sense of humility, I can say we are on the cusp of moving Abeokuta north to greater heights.

“As an administration, we would continue to put our people first in whatever we do and I can assure you that we will sustain our empowerment programs.

“I am going to continue empowering our people till I leave office. We have identified the fact that creating jobs ultimately alleviate poverty, builds a stronger local economy, and helps our people to be self-reliant. You cannot stop something that works.” he noted.

He announced that his administration is at the final stages of launching a website for the Local Government, adding that he would provide free Wi-Fi facility at the Local Government secretariat and other key places in the LG to aid access to information.
