Ogun guber: Why I chose Labour Party – Odegbami

A governorship aspirant of the Labour Party (LP) and former Green Eagles captain that won the first African Cup of Nations for Nigeria, Chief Segun Odegbami, has said that he is seeking the ticket of the party to run for the Ogun State governorship, because the party is way ahead of others in pro-people programmes.

He said this yesterday when he led a high-powered delegation to the National Headquarters of the party.

Odegbami was received by the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

He said he believed that his choice of LP was a divine calling as the ruling APC, the main opposition PDP and other parties lack ideas like the LP.

“It is time to salvage the situation and place Nigeria where it is supposed to be and I want to start that in Ogun State, when by Gods’ Grace I become the governor. I was looking for a party that truly represents the people and have an ideology that tally with my desire for my state. I saw this in the Labour Party,” Odegbami who formally registered at the party’s state chapter last Friday said.

Alhaji Abdulsalam said Nigerians already knew Chief Odegbami, as he has contributed immensely to Nigeria’s sports development, especially through football and also in other endeavours.
