Ogun gov’ship: Adebutu lines up 120 witnesses in petition against Abiodun

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18 election in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu has lined up 120 witnesses to testify in the petition filed against Governor Dapo Abiodun before the Election Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta.

Adebutu’s counsel, Chris Uche (SAN) told the three-man panel led by Justice Hamidu Kunaza that the petitioner had lined up about 260 witnesses, but decided to prune it down due to time constraints.

Uche said this during the inaugural and pre-hearing sitting of the tribunal, adding that the petitioner would be presenting his case in four weeks.

The counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), A.J. Owonikoko (SAN), said the commission has just one witness to testify in the petition.

Kunaza said four petitions have been received by the tribunal, of which two had been struck out.
