Ogun CP reads Riot Act to cultists

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Edward Ajogun, Tuesday, declared that the police will engage cultists “fire-for-fire

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Edward Ajogun, Tuesday, declared that the police will engage cultists “fire-for-fire” in the state. He stated this when he interacted with youths, community leaders and security stakeholders over a cult war in Ijebu Ode and its environs.

In 2020, no fewer than 25 lives were lost to the “battle of supremacy” between rival cult groups.

As part of moves to tame the clashes, CP Ajogun met with the stakeholders at the Ijebu Area Command, Igbeba in Ijebu-Ode, shortly after parading 11 suspected members of Eiye Confraternity before newsmen.

The CP equally visited some cultists’ flashpoints in Ijebu-Ode to sensitize youths and community leaders on the dangers of aiding and abetting cult groups, and urged the stakeholders to cooperate with the police in the fight against cultism.
