The Court of Appeal has reinstated ‘Biyi Otegbeye as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State.
The Ibadan division of the appellate court, on Monday, upheld the candidature of Otegbeye and all 26 House of Assembly candidates of the party.
This followed an appeal filed by Otegbeye and others against a judgement of an Abeokuta Federal High Court that ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to delist Otegbeye and 23 others from the list of candidates contesting the 2023 elections in the state.
Labour Party and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had separately challenged the candidature of Otegbeye and 23 others, over alleged violation of the Electoral Act.

Reacting to the judgement, Otegbeye in a statement in Abeokuta, on Monday, described the development as victory for the people of Ogun State.
He said, “While the appeal subsisted, we were undaunted by the schemes of our traducers and had no doubt of victory because we have fully complied with all extant provisions of the Electoral Act throughout the conduct of our primaries.”
