The Ogoni Peoples Assembly (OPA) expresses joy as Federal Government approved the construction of phase one of Ogoni Power Project.
President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the construction of power projects that will connect the entire Ogoni communities to the national grid, a development the Ogoni Peoples Assembly (OPA) believes will stimulate economic activities and create employment opportunities to Ogonis.
Speaking on behalf of the organization, the Leader of Ogoni Peoples Assembly, OPA, Reverend Probel Williams, commended President Muhammadu Buhari the Minister of Environment , Alhaji Mohammed Abdullahi and the Project Coordinator HYPREP Dr. Ferdinand Giadom for facilitating and approving the commencement of work at the project saying that the power project when completed will stimulate economic activities and create employment opportunities to teeming youths and residents of Ogoni communities.
We in Ogoni Peoples Assembly OPA believe this power project is conceived at a time when Ogonis are in dare need of economic recovery. We are saying that the power project will create new frontiers for rapid economic growth.
The Secretary of Ogoni Peoples Assembly OPA Dr. Evidence Ep-aaBari Enoch further reiterated that the power project is consistent with the dream of every Ogoni, stressing that the project when completed will ultimately promote peace in Ogoniland, enhance economic development through skilled and unskilled entrepreneurship, industrial growth and overall prosperity of Ogoniland.

This demonstration of government willingness to improve the lives of Ogoni people through this project is strategic and timely. Ogoni Peoples Assembly on behalf of the entire Ogoniland wish to thank President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Environment and Dr. Ferdinand for the commitment deployed in initiating the project and decisive steps taken in securing it’s approval.
