The outgoing Minister of Environment, Dr. Muhammad Mahmood Abubakar, has said that the Ogoniland clean-up was one of the major achievements of the ministry under his watch.
Speaking just before handing over the affairs of the ministry to the Minister of State, Chief Sharon Ikeazor, in his office, Dr Abubakar said the Ogoniland clean-up, issues relating to tackling climate change and policies of a cleaner and healthier environment were part of the achievements of the ministry in the last two years.

Following a minor cabinet reshuffle by President Muhammadu Buhari, the environment minister was deployed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, while the Minister of State Ikeazor was asked to take over the environment ministry.
On her part, Chief Ikeazor assured that the affairs of the ministry will be highly protected and developed under her watch and appealed for maximum support from staff of the ministry.
