Ogechi Ukonu Condemns the destruction and looting in the name of #EndSars

Ogechi Ukonu better known as Caramel Plug, social media personality, brand ambassador and entrepreneur has joined the list of Nigerians living in the diaspora who have condemned the looting and destruction of public property by hoodlums and thugs claiming to be protesters.

Caramel Plug who participated in the #EndSars protests held in Vancouver, Canada said she was surprised like everyone else to hear that the peaceful protests in several states especially Lagos, turned into a vandalization and looting spree after hoodlums and thugs hijacked it.

Oge said that it was a poor decision for hoodlums and thugs to masquerade as peaceful protesters while targeting business premises and certain high brow locations around Lagos to break in and loot.

She called on government to show transparency by getting to the root of it all and also prosecute all the hoodlums involved in the incidents.

She called for investigations by security agents to trace and track down the perpetrators of the dastard acts.

She lamented that “it is disheartening that in Nigeria, citizens still have to lose not just lives but properties as well.

Caramel Plug urged those who stole the staff of authority of the Oba of Lagos to return it while condemning the looters and vandals who descended on the palace to cart away money and various valuables.

She urged “our traditional leaders to hold politicians and government accountable for electoral promises made during campaigns.

She also mandated the youth to take more active roles in politics and governance by registering for their permanent votes card so they will be eligible to vote in the next election cycle.

She pointed out that “casting your vote is the only way to ensure that democracy endures and that the qualified candidates are elected to office.”
