The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has described as “extremely cruel”, a recent social media report that he and the Minister of state for Agriculture, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri along with the Permanent Secretary , Dr. Shehu Ahmed, took N2bn bribe out of the N20bn meant to pay agro-dealers.
Chief Ogbeh said yesterday at a news conference in Abuja that the ministry owed agro-dealers N37bn for inputs supplied to farmers during former president Jonathan’s administration.
He said he sought the assistance of the federal government and got N20bn which according to him was released to the Federal Ministry of Finance for onward disbursement to the agro dealers.
