The traditional ruler of Offa town, Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, Esuwoye ll has said that banking operations will resume in Offa town in the next two months.

This is just as commercial activities have resumed in the town one week after the attack, as one of the affected banks was already installing new ATM machines to replace those destroyed by the hoodlums.

Speaking when he received members of the Offa Students Association, various groups of artisans and elders forum, who staged mournful walk to his palace on Thursday, the traditional ruler said that he had received assurance from managements of the commercial banks operating in the community.

The traditional ruler also said that promises given by governments and their agencies, as well as support from people of the area to shore up security, had also encouraged reopening as well as consoled him on the unfortunate incident.

It will be recalled that it took six months before banking operations began in Offa after 2013 armed robbery attack.

Also speaking, convener of the condolence walk, Tayo Tijani, blamed high number of casualty in the attack on attitude of some people who were using their phones to record the robbery attack.

Also, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state, Architect Lola Ashiru, has presented cash donations to some victims of Offa robbery attack who are receiving treatment in hospital.

Speaking with journalists after his condolence visit to General Hospital, Ilorin, Ashiru, who is also an indigene of the ancient town, prayed for quick recovery of the people.

The PDP chieftain, who gave a cash donation of N40,000 each to seven injured victims in the hospital also distributed N5,000 each to other patients receiving treatment in the hospital.
