Veteran film director, producer, and writer,Femi Odugbemi, has been named Chief Judge for the 9th Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA). The voting window will open after the nominee announcement on April 9 at 7 p.m. on all Africa Magic stations.
In announcing the lineup for the ninth AMVCA, Busola Tejumola, Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice, noted that this year’s ceremony is unlike any other and that the awards have been used as a barometer for assessing achievement in the film business.

“The AMVCA has in the last eight years become the unit by which excellence is measured and recognised and this 9th edition of the AMVCAs stands in a unique position being hosted in the 20th year of Africa Magic operations in Nigeria and at a point when cinematic output across Africa is entering a phase of global recognition and appreciation.”
Tejumola revealed that the three-day AMVCA 2023 celebration would begin on May 18 with the Opening Night and Culture Day event, followed by the Digital Content Creators, Young Filmmakers Day, and the Runway Show/Nominee Gala on May 19. The Award Night on May 20 will be the culmination of the festivity.
