A company committed to the development of the agricultural ecosystem in AfricaOCP Africa has given scholarship to 20 students in the Agricultural Department of Kaduna State University (KASU) to the tune of N5million together with other library equipments.

 

Speaking shortly after presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries of the scholarship, the Country Manager and Deputy Managing Director of OCP, Mr. Caleb Usoh said that the gesture seeks to build the knowledge base and capacity of the students.

 

According to him, no fewer than 5,000 farmers have benefited from OCP agric booster intervention in the state. He further explained that the scholarship scheme is part of the programmes structured by OCP to build capacity of the younger generation. “All the beneficiaries of this scholarship award were selected on merit,” he noted.

 

He also assured that the beneficiaries will be supported throughout their academic pursuit.

 

Responding, the Vice Chancellor of KASU, Professor Muhammad Tanko commended OCP while he urged the beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity giving to them judiciously.

 

One of the beneficiaries, a 500 level student of agricultural department, Igboba Queenth who got a cheque of N100,000 applauded the Company; saying the gesture has in no small measure boosted his morale toward pursuing agricultural projects.

 

OCP, an agricultural company has been working in partnership with the Kaduna State Government on how to boost the agricultural sector in the state.
