The paramount ruler of Idoma nation, Och’Idoma IV, Dr. Elias Obekpa, has stressed the need for peaceful coexistence in the entire Idoma land for development to thrive.
Obekpa made the remark during the grand reception organised in honour of Och’Enone, Engr. George Edeh, First Class chief of Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Intermediate Traditional Area Council by the Ai-Olaje Ado Development Association.

The royal father, who urged the new Och’Enone to rekindle the love between traditional rulers and their subjects in his domain consisting of three local government areas, added that love and unity remained the bedrock of every society.
The Och’Idoma represented by Ada’ Apa/Agatu, Chief Baba Odangla, emphasised that the entire Idoma kingdom is yearning for development, which requires every son and daughter of the land to join hands together to actualise the desired development.
Responding, the Och’Enone, Chief Edeh thanked his subjects for the overwhelming love shown him and called for unity among the people.
Edeh, who was recently handed the staff of office by the Benue State Government, noted that the era of traditional divisiveness in Enone – his domain was gone.
Also speaking, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, called on traditional rulers to always work towards sustaining peace and stability in their respective domain so as to fast track speedy economic and social development in the state.
The governor whose message was delivered by the former executive chairman of Ado LGC, Chief Otse Otokpa, urged the royal father to be selfless, forthright and remain non-partisan.
