The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has said he has been talking to the parties involved in the State House of Assembly crisis to reach an amicable settlement.
Speaking during a visit by the committee in his palace yesterday, he added that he was on the verge of inviting the parties for a truce when he heard of the the ad-hoc committee set up by the House of Representatives.
Describing the task before the committee as herculean, Oba Ewuare prayed for its sucess in the assignment in order to bring peace and normalcy to the House of Assembly.
The committee Chairman, Hon. Abdulrazaq Nadaz, said the 13-member committee was mandated by the Reps to look into the crisis and resolve it amicably.
He said members were carefully selected to undertake the assignment, assuring that they would do their best to be fair to the people of Edo State. Abdulrazaq pleaded with the Oba to intervene, as according to him, the committee would rely on his advice and guidance to bring peace to the Assembly.
