Oba backs ban on illegal activities of youth leaders

Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has warned Okaeghele (community youth leader) that whoever engages in land grabbing and other illegal activities would face the full wrath of the law.

The monarch gave the warning over the weekend in his palace while addressing hundreds of Okaeghale (youth heads)  across various communities and villages who protested to the palace over the state government’s ban on Okaeghele  activities.

Speaking through Chief Stanley Obamwonyi, Esere of Benin, Oba Ewuare said the state government only prohibits the unwholesome and illegal activities of Okaeghele and not the traditional and customary role of Okaighale across Benin village.
