Joy Adesina, a graduating medical doctor has set a new record after she clinched nine awards and 10 distinctions to emerge top among 85 graduating medical doctors at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife in Osun State.
Joy, who is a niece of the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) with the feat, broke the university’s all-time record in Medicine.
Among the awards coveted by the medical studies graduate include the Nigeria Medical Association Prize as the best overall result in the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree examination; the Faculty Prize for having the best overall performance in the Faculty of Clinical Sciences; Olaningbe Makanjuola Memorial Prize for the best student in Medicine and Medical Specialties in Part 111 MBChB degree examination; the Dr. Oluyemi O. Badero Foundation Prize for the best overall student in MBCh.B final examination in the faculty; and Major General Olufemi Olutoye Prize for having the best overall performance in the first professional examination.
In his comment through a LinkedIn post, the Senior Advisor to the President (Communication and Stakeholder Engagement), AfDB Group, Dr. Victor Oladokun, described the feat as an amazing performance and to make it even better, by a woman.
“I am so proud of Dr Joy Adesina who has emerged the top graduating student in Medicine at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria with her record-breaking and exceptional list of nine top awards and 10 distinctions,” said Dr. Oladokun.
