The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has trained its retiring officers on various skills to enable them to be self-reliant after service.

The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Sule Kazaure, who declared open the two-day 2017 Pre-retirement Workshop for staff of the NYSC Scheme yesterday in Keffi, Nasarawa State, assured the participants that the skills training was meant to help them make informed decisions about their new life.

Represented by NYSC Director, Human Resource Management, Mrs Adetoun Makinde, Kazaure encouraged them to be optimistic about the future.

Earlier in her welcome address, Makinde said the growing complexity of Nigeria’s social-economic environment had made retirement planning a key concern of corporate organisations globally.

“There are challenges as well as opportunities in life after retirement. Hence, for retiring officers to be able to face life frontally at the end of their service, proper planning is key,” she said.
