The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has said the scheme will remit about N511 million to the federation account for the year 2021.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja, at a press briefing, he said in 2020, the scheme remitted N280m to the federation account.
He said the remittance showed that the scheme also contributed to the economy of the nation.
Ibrahim noted that the scheme rejigged the garment factory where corps members were trained to sew and produce garments.
According to him, the scheme also commenced operations in the bakery and table water factory which produces water and bread consumed by corps members in the orientation camps and sold out.
