“I have been to all the orientation camps in Nigeria but this is the worst in the Federation and the facilities are grossly inadequate.

“The hostels, toilets and everything are inadequate and dilapidated”, he lamented.

The director general pointed out that it is the constitutional responsibility of every state government to provide a decent orientation camp for corp members posted to such state, adding that Niger fell short of meeting this mandate.

He said he had personally met Governor Abubakar Sani Bello on the issue in the past yet nothing concrete has happened, warning that the management may have no option than to close down the camp if the state government does not do the needful.

“I cannot tell you when that will happen but we will give them some time and see if they will fix the place,” he said.

On the involvement of corp members in the 2019 elections, he said the NYSC is collaborating with relevant agencies to ensure their safety.

“We are collaborating with INEC and security agencies to ensure the safety of corp members before, during and after the elections,” he explained.
