NYSC organises job fair for corps members

The event, which took place at the Orientation Camp, Kubwa, FCT, was the first of its kind in the FCT and was organised in partnership with about five multi-national organisations.
Speaking at the event, NYSC’s Director of Skill Acquisition and Entreprenuship Development, Mrs. Mary Danabia, reiterated the Scheme’s commitment to providing requisite skills to corps members.
She said the event is targeted at showcasing several organisations and firms that may wish to recruit from the passing out corps members.
Earlier in his welcome address, FCT NYSC Coordinator, Frank Ekpunobi, congratulated the corps members for being the pioneer batch to benefit from the innovation.
While describing the programme as a pragmatic approach in reducing unemployment among the youths, Ekpunobi urged the corps members to take advantage of the opportunity by putting into use the knowledge acquired during the training.
One of the 2012 Batch C corps members in the FCT, Binta Abubakar Adama, was given an automatic employment by one of the organisations, New Horizons, after a highly competitive interview conducted for qualified corps members.
She expressed appreciation to the organisation for the gesture, saying it came to her as a surprise.
