The National Youth Service Corps on Monday launched its 2021 nationwide Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD).
NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu, said over two million less privileged rural dwellers nationwide had benefitted from the initiative since its inception in 2014.

He spoke in Abuja during the flag-off of the initiative.
He said the platform was created to promote the wellbeing of indigent persons at the grassroots by granting them easier access to free and quality healthcare.
He said other approaches to the implementation of the initiative were the establishment of community-based clinics, setting up of clinics for the NYSC Secretariat, first aid administration and humanitarian aid.
FCT NYSC Coordinator, Suleiman Abdul, said the mission was to ensure that the rural dwellers in the FCT got the desired healthcare throughout the year.
