The Management of NYSC FC has commended the organisers of the Unity preseason tournament for putting up a robust medical team on the ground.

The medical team was quick to save the life of one of NYSC FC players during one of the matches in the tournament.

In a message to the organisers, the management of NYSC FC said; “we wish to express our profound gratitude to the organisers of Unity Pre-season Tournament and the members of the Wiki Tourists FC for the timely intervention in saving the life of our player Collins Ugwu during our game with Wikki Tourists.

“We also appreciate the effort of the FRSC medical team which was on the ground at the tournament. The efforts were well appreciated. We Wish you successful completion of the tournament.”

Ugwu had collapsed after an aerial encounter with the Wikki Tourists goalkeeper on Wednesday.

The FRSC medical team, engaged by the organisers, was on the ground and quick to rescue him before he was taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the last qualifiers will be decided on Thursday when Wikki Tourists take on fellow NPFL mates, Katsina United, at Area 3 playing pitch.

The first match of the day will be between Capital City and NYSC FC.

Already Nasarawa United and Plateau United have booked their tickets to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Nasarawa United topped Group A with 7 points, winning two matches and drawing one, while Plateau United came out tops in Group B with 6 points winning 2 matches and losing one.

The final will hold on Sunday.
