Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has called on Nigerians to shun conflicts and embrace unity.
He was addressing newsmen in Abuja Wednesday at the opening ceremony of the 2021 NYSC management’s meeting with representatives of state governments, FCT administration and local government councils.
He said Nigerians should not let the various conflicts bedevilling the country affect national unity.
He noted that every other country had its various problems, but converted them to opportunities.
Ibrahim said corps members would soon commence a sensitization programme to enlighten Nigerians on the need to embrace unity, stressing that the mandate of the NYSC was to unite Nigerian youths throughout the one-year service to their fatherland.
He said the meeting was to identify challenges affecting the scheme and chat ways to sort them out.
“Without the NYSC and corps members, the education and health system would collapse. In the rural areas, they are the ones holding the schools and hospitals,” Ibrahim stressed.
