Residents of Nyak village, in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State, have expressed happiness over the citing of Federal Polytechnic, Shendam, in their community.
Nyak is Governor Simon Bako Lalong’s hometown located in the southern zone of the state.
Speaking to Benue Plateau Trust, Danlami Yamna, a resident of the community said: “Our community is pleased by the development as it will help indigenes of the southern zone to go to school adding that the development would assist the zone to close up the existing knowledge gap with those in the central and northern zones, which have a higher concentration of tertiary institutions.
He thanked Governor Simon Lalong for being firm toward ensuring that the institution was sited in the community, explaining that the community would witness huge development in the nearest future.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Architect Sonny Echono, conveyed the location of the school when he visited Governor Simon Bako Lalong in March.
The permanent secretary said the technical team from the ministry had undertaken a preliminary visit to various sites in Shendam Local Government and has submitted its findings and Nyak was chosen as the site for the school.
