Following their heavy 4:0 defeat to Delta Queen last week, Confluence Queens quickly regrouped to see off FC Taraba Queens with the same goal margin in their home match at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja on Sunday.

Captain Ene Onoja opened the score line from the spot after Aishat Bello was brought down in the 18 yard box, before Aishat Bello double the lead for the home side minutes later.

The pressure became unbearable for the visitors as striker Chioma Wogu registered her name on the score sheet to ensure the host finished the first half with a comfortable three goals lead.

Aishat Bello completed the rout with her second goal of the match to end the one-sided encounter at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium 4-0.

It is pertinent to note that the Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada was at the stadium to cheer his girls all through and they didn’t disappoint him. They now sit fourth on the table with seven points from four games.

Ibom Angels continued their fine form by edging Delta Queens 2:1 to jet to the top of the table, at least, for now. After going away to earn a surprising 2:1 win against Edo Queens in a Week 3 game, It was very unlikely that they would slip at home at the weekend.

They are now joint leaders alongside Pelican Stars on nine points, though the later have a game at hand.

It would be recalled that Pelican Stars are the only second team to have earned an away win thus far. They easily thrashed visiting Edo Queens 3:0 to compound the woes of the Edo State team who lost at home in the Week 3 encounter against Ibom Angels.

Edo Queens sit bottom of the log after just four games with only a point for their effort so far this season.

After a resounding 2:0 win over Adamawa Queen at the weekend, River Angels have now garnered eight points from four games to keep pace with the leaders while pushing their opponents further down the bottom half of the table.

In Akure, Sunshine Queens were able to fight off a stubborn visiting Osun Babes FC to run away 1:0 winners at the end of the encounter. That is the Akure team’s second win of the campaign, sitting in the middle of the table with six points behind their opponents who have a edge on the log with a superior goal difference.
