The party said it has also endorsed the choice of Chief Amachukwu Ezike as the running mate to Nwoye.
National publicity secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh in an interaction with newsmen yesterday said the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party had met on the issue of the dispute over the party’s ticket and resolved that Nwoye remains the candidate of the party.
He said the names of Nwoye and Ezike shall be forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) despite the various court judgments in favour of some of the aspirants.
Metuh said the party has directed its legal department to handle the legal issues involved while explaining that the party is insisting on Nwoye because he is the product of the primaries organized by the team sent from the national secretariat of the party.
A Port Harcourt Federal High court’s order on Tuesday voided the candidacy of Tony Nwoye, who emerged winner of the August 14 primary election conducted by the Ken Emeakayi-led faction of the Anambra PDP.
Tuesday’s court ruling came after another Port Harcourt High order ordered INEC to recognize  Ejike Ogbuebego as the state’s PDP Chairman, which nominated Andy Uba as its candidate for the election.
INEC  when contacted said the commission will accept whoever the party presents to it.
Press secretary to the INEC chairman, Kayode Idowu said “ It is not INEC that will decide who will contest for a party; it is the party that will present its own candidate. I don’t know the one the party presented to us because we have not yet published the particulars of the candidates. I am sure by now they must have made the nomination, because the submission closed yesterday (Tuesday). They must have submitted their candidate by now.”
