Newly promoted Naija Ratels have unveiled seven new players signed by the management to beef up the squad ahead of the 2022 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.

The Abuja based club which is sponsored by Barrister Paul Edeh, president of Ratels Sports Foundation dominated the 2021 NWFL Championship to gain promotion to the topflight.

The players unveiled are Amedu Mirabel from Naija Ratels Academy, Fakiyesi Abisola and Mbah Chidinma from New Generation Football Academy, Omede Regina from Adamawa Queens.

Others are Precious Daniel (WACO Academy), Sandra Adugbe (Lakeside Queens Academy) and Adesina Itunuoluwa.

11 year old Amedu Mirabel, who is on Ratels Sports Foundation full scholarship, said she signed for the club to achieve her dream of playing professional football.

Meanwhile, the club president, Barrister Edeh said the signing of the seven talented youngsters underscored the team’s ambition ahead of the 2021/2022 season.

He also said female club owners should cultivate the good habit of going to the grassroots to unearth hidden talents who would be nurtured to stardom.

“As a football club, we don’t dwell so much on ready made players. We believe strongly that there are so many unknown players at the grassroots who are waiting to be discovered.

“Ï, therefore, implore owners and sponsors of female football clubs to always look in the direction of talents at the grassroots,” he noted.
