Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Abdulazeez Yari met behind closed-doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday over the Central Bank of Nigeria-packaged special intervention fund for states.
President Muhammadu Buhari recently approved the package, a kind of soft loan ranging from N250 billion to N300 billion to enable states pay salaries.
Yari later told State House journalists yesterday that he was at the Villa to know from Osinbajo, who is the chairman of the National Economic Council (NEC), how far the federal government had gone on the CBN planned intervention.
“We discussed the issue of the special intervention funds. In our last meeting with the President, we agreed in the National Economic Council that there would be a special intervention from the Federal Government for the states that cannot foot their salary arrears to their workers,” Yari, who is the governor of Zamfara State, said.
