A member of the House of Representatives representing Abuja South constituency in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Zakari Angulu Dobi, has called on the chairman of Gwagwalada Area council, Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin Giri, to intensify efforts at completing some of the projects in the area.
Giri succeeded Dobi as chairman of the area council on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker recalled that some of the uncompleted projects, such as Gwako township road, the legislative arm complex, as well as the Gwagwalada town-hall, were initiated by his administration, but they could not be completed.
He said his desire to initiate such projects was borne out of their direct bearing on the lives of the people, adding that if completed, they would boost socio-economic activities in the area.
“I am sure that if the chairman intensifies efforts to complete those projects, including the town-hall, they will go a long way in improving the revenue profile of the council,’’ he said.
Dobi urged residents to continue to support the administration of the council so that more democratic dividends would be provided for them.
Responding, chairman of the council, Jibrin Giri, said the dwindling monthly allocation from the Federation Account was delaying the completion of some of the projects he inherited from his predecessor. He, however, said arrangements had been concluded towards completing some of the projects by the end of this month, including the Zuba-Machada Bridge.
“In fact, we are making all the necessary arrangements to see how the council would raise funds to mobilise contractors back to site by the end of this month to complete those projects,” he said.
