Peace has returned to Plateau – Lalong, Buba

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State and the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, said yesterday that peace had returned to the state.
Lalong, who was represented by the Deputy Governor Professor Sonni Tyoden, said when the management of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) Zaria, visited him: “Some few years ago, people were afraid of coming to the state because they saw it as a war front, but as you can see for yourself, peace and normalcy have come back to Plateau State. Your decision to come to Plateau has shown that you have confidence in the people and government of the state and that is an indication that peace has been restored to the state. We will continue to do things that will promote unity and sustainable peace in the state.”
He urged the institution to be more visible and add more value to the economy of the country, adding, “the state government is willing to partner any group or institution that is ready to collaborate with us”.
The Gbong Gwom Jos, who also hosted the NITT team, said the state which experienced security challenges in the past is now regaining its lost glory.
“We also appreciate the confidence of the institute demonstrated in its use of Plateau as a case study. You have been in Jos for a while and you can testify to the fact that peace has returned to the Plateau. The people of the state are ready and will welcome anyone who wants to do business here,” he said.
The monarch charged the institute to draft a legislation that would facilitate government policies to entrench sanity in the transportation sector.
In his remarks, the NITT Director, School of Transport, Dr Abinbola Odumosu, said the institute was charged with the responsibly of providing professional training for middle cadre managers in the areas of transport and logistics and also conduct research and offer consultancy services to both public and private transport and logistics organizations.
