The Governing Council of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike in Abia State has approved the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor for the institution. He is Francis Ogbonnaya Otunta, a professor of Mathematics.
A statement by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of council, Prof. Anya O. Anya, said his appointment was based on his performance during the interview held for the position.
The appointment is for a single term of five years, with effect from March 1,2016.
Professor Francis Ogbonnaya Otunta, who hails from Afikpo, Ebonyi State, was born on April 29, 1958. He was Rector, Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic between 2006 and 2014.
He is married to Barrister Bertha and blessed with six children.
