The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has urged the media to help the commission achieve success for this year’s hajj exercise, saying there are lots of physical transformations in Saudi Arabia that needed to be reported correctly.
Chairman of the commission Barrister Abdullahi Mohammed Mukhtar disclosed this yesterday in Abuja while inaugurating the media committee for this year’s exercise.
He said the event was first of its kind as Saudi authority has granted permission for Nigerian journalists to be accredited before the names are sent to the kingdom for the exercise.
He however urged the media to be sensitive about their reportage to avoid straining relationship between Nigeria and Saudi. “Pilgrims have to be taught about the new developments with some changes in the hajj rights compare to the past,” Mukhtar said.
