NUJ marks Press Week with destitute

The Imo State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has ended its 2016 annual Press Week with celebration with the destitute in the state.

The NUJ members, led by the state chairman Sir Innocent Igwe, visited the destitute home at Ngor Okpala LGA Housing with over 100 inmates with bags of rice, tubers of yam, toilet paper, and soaps. 

Speaking at the event, the NUJ chairman said the union decided to celebrate with the rarely thought of destitute to demonstrate love and to give them a sense of belonging.

The state Commissioner for Heath, Women Affairs and Social Development, Barr. Ngozi Njoku, who marked her birthday with the destitute, said it pleased God that she should celebrate with the people without hope.
