The National Universities Commission on Tuesday granted approval and recognition for the establishment of Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State.

He said all other supporting agencies, including the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board and the National Youth Service Corps had been notified about the approval.

Rasheed commended the Kogi State Government for investing in education, saying such drive remained the best approach in adding value to citizens’ lives.

Earlier, Governor Yahaya Bello had assured that the institution would be of international standard in terms of quality of its staffers, students and the learning environment as it would focus on functional education.

He said: “Today, we have universities that exist in the country, but there is no specialised university. We have minerals resources, we have youths, women and a large population that seeks for greener pasture across the country.”

“By the time students graduate from Confluence University of Science and Technology, you’d not need to wait for any employment. You’ll be self-employed.”

He assured of the state’s readiness to commence activities ranging from the establishment of the institution introduced through an executive bill already signed into law.
