The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for all 43 academic programmes of the Federal University of Kashere, Gombe State that were presented for accreditation during the October/November 2023 accreditation exercise.

The approval was contained in a document by NUC with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/327 addressed to the vice chancellor, Prof. Umaru A. Pate.

The document with the caption, “Result of the October/November 2023 Accreditation of Academic Programmes in Nigerian Universities, reads that the commission organised the accreditation of academic programmes at the Federal University of Kashere in October/November and accredited all 43 academic programmes that were presented in either accredited, full or interim accreditation status.

A statement signed by the varsity’s PRO, Janet Ibrahim Ezekiel, said the programmes presented were postgraduate programmes, existing undergraduate programmes and newly established programmes presented for initial accreditation and that all have been approved.

The breakdown of the results indicated that out of 43 programmes presented, all four postgraduate programmes earned accreditation status; 32 undergraduate programmes got full accreditation, while seven other undergraduate programmes had interim accreditation status.

“It is important to note that by implication, any postgraduate programme with accredited status and undergraduate programme with full accreditation will remain valid for five years after which it will be presented for re-accreditation whereas, those with interim accreditation status will last for two years before re-accreditation,” she said.

Reacting to the development, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Umaru A. Pate, expressed gratitude to Allah for the successful outcome and commended all staff involved in the accreditation exercise, describing it as a collective achievement.
