He told newsmen in Birnin-Kebbi that the degree programme would include Bachelors of Science and Bachelors of Art in Education.
The NTI coordinator said admis-sion was in progress, adding that academic activities would commence at the Federal Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi, as a centre.
He said the institute introduced the degree programmes to increase access to higher education, expand the scope of teachers’ qualification and bridge the gap between qualified and non-qualified teachers.
Maiwada said the National Certificate of Education, Post-Graduate Diploma in Education and Advanced Diploma in Education programmes had commenced at nine designated study centres in the state.
He urged qualified applicants to seek admission into the new programmes and assured them that updated course materials and qualitative teaching and learning environment would be provided.
Maiwada said NTI management was poised to transform the institute, especially as the best distance learning institute in Africa in line with the vision of the founders. (NAN)
