The Nigerian Teen Choice Award (NTCA) was held over the weekend to honour  the musical and artistic talents of some qualified teenagers selected across the country.
Many youths from different parts of the country attended the colorful event held at the Trancorp Hilton Abuja which featured stars like Davido and Presh amongst several others.
The founder/chief executive officer of NTCA, Nelson Ese Williams said that no fewer than 52 talented young Nigerians who have proven to be creative and talented in their chosen fields of interests were honoured.
He said that the awards cut across different categories in arts and entertainment, adding that this year`s edition, which is the 4th is dedicated to recognition of talented teenagers and upcoming artistes as a way of making them more productive in the society.
A three-man committee sat to judge on nominations with credibility, quality and merit being their watchwords in determining those that emerged awardees.
“Tonight we recognized teenagers who were into music, fashion, comedy, sport, media and entrepreneurship. It is to encourage and develop young Nigerians to reach the height of whatever they choose to do.
“We received over 10,000 nominations and we had to screen them and reduce the numbers to about 600, as we have 50 categories of the award,” he explained.
Williams said that since the number of awardees increase yearly, there was need for well-meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to support the project.
One of the recipients, Efe Oraka, 16, who came first in the Choice Female Artiste category expressed her happiness for the honour saying, “I have been singing since I was nine and released my first album at 11. Though I did not think I stood a chance of winning, I am very proud to be named the winner. It all started from dreaming it, and today I am actualizing it. This, to me is recognition of my hard work, and it is going to serve as a springboard to my next level in music.”
